The whole idea is a bunch of mates (male & female) meeting up to plan and run activities of all types together, with a bit of adult support.
Most groups (but not all) are attached to a local...
scout group and this is good cos it sorts things like somewhere to meet, insurance and other stuff like that. It also means there might be a few quid going to get you on your way.
Linking with the local scout group also means you're hooked into the network so you can meet up with other (venture) groups and get contacts such as canoeing or climbing experts. There are also some activities run nationally that you can dip into if that takes your fancy...
The group governs itself and elects a chairperson (to make sure what we say we wanna do actually happens) and the sky really is the limit after that...
If it's legal and it's safe, you can do it, but its all about what the group want to do and naturally it's a good plan to start with Three Rock or the Sugar Loaf (and get to Mount Everest once the experience is built up).
And its not all about hardcore adventure sports...
Parties like the Venture Annual Ball, concerts, festivals, community work, what about a treasure hunt in the city centre, shop til you drop, camp in the mountains or just chill out...
